Cherished, Not Performing

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that love must be earned. We learned to perform, to please, to prove. And we carried that wiring straight into our relationship with God.

But the gospel turns that on its head. You are not loved because you perform. You are loved because He is love. His delight in you is not a reward — it is a gift.

Today, lay down the striving. Let yourself be cherished. The Father is singing over you, and the song is one of joy.

Prayer

Abba, help me believe that I am loved as I am — not as I should be. Quiet the striving in me and let me rest in Your delight.

Reflect

  • 1.Where are you still trying to earn what God freely gives?
  • 2.How might your day look different if you truly received His delight?
