From the Vineyard to the Table

Proverbs 16:9

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

We had planned to meet at the vineyard. The date was circled, the hearts were ready, the table was set among the vines. And then the sky opened, the forecast turned, and the plans we held so carefully had to be laid down.

It would have been easy to be discouraged. But the same God who grows the vine also gathers the storm — and He is no less good when the weather refuses to cooperate. So we trusted Him with the change, and we came instead to the table.

And there, indoors and unhurried, He met us. We broke bread. We tasted the wine. We remembered that the first miracle of Jesus was at a wedding, where He turned water into the finest wine and saved the celebration. Whatever the setting, He is still the One who pours out abundance.

Sister, your plans may have shifted this week too. A door you expected to walk through may have closed. A season you imagined may look different than you hoped. Trust Him. He establishes our steps with tenderness, and the table He sets — wherever it ends up — is always enough.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You are not bound by my plans. When the weather changes and the path bends, steady my heart to trust You. Pour out Your goodness at whatever table You set before me today.

Reflect

  • 1.Where has God recently rearranged your plans?
  • 2.What ‘table’ has He set in front of you instead — and how can you receive it with thanksgiving?
